Selection of compensators waste water installations, ground settlement on underground piping
General:
In pump stations and waste water treatment plants underground piping is often used. But where piping
is attached to piled buildings and basins, stress in the piping occurs when, due to ground settlement,
the piping moves vertically down.
Depending on the type of soil and the manner of depositing the different layers of soil, larger or smaller
ground settlement occur.
One of the possibilities to compensate this settlement is the installation of compensators near the
wall penetration. In many cases the joint is to be tied: the compensator is than forseen with tiebars
or hinges. In order to be able to configure these brackets the maximum working and/or test conditions
should be specified.
Another possibility is to install a Performer rubber pipe. The Performer type AD 10 H is suited for
underground installation. A longer pipe can cater for bigger ground settlement.
Mounting with flange couplings, e.g. PN10.
